Conduct & safeguarding
- Respect & inclusion: Engage kindly, listen well, and make space for diverse perspectives.
- Safe environments: Follow Rotary’s policies for safe, harassment-free participation online and in person.
- Youth protection: Where required by law and Rotary policy, complete a Working with Children Check (or local equivalent) and any club/district training before youth activities.
- Brand & privacy: Use Rotary branding respectfully and protect personal information and partner data.
Communication & admin
- Zoom: Keep your display name recognisable; mute when not speaking; use chat reactions thoughtfully.
- Club updates: Read brief recaps and respond to quick polls or requests from project leads.
- Contact details: Update your email and phone if they change so we can reach you.
Leadership & training
Our club includes experienced leaders (including multiple Past District Governors and a Governor Elect for Rotary Year 2026–27), and we love mentoring new leaders. Try a role that fits your time:
- Micro-roles: 15–30 minutes/week (e.g., post a recap, update a list, coordinate a guest speaker).
- Project roles: Help plan, deliver, and report outcomes for a service project.
- Club roles: Support public image, membership, events, or governance with a buddy to guide you.
Dues & good standing
- Dues: Pay membership dues when invoiced to cover Rotary International, district, and club costs.
- Good standing: Stay engaged with meetings and projects.
- Taking a break? Let us know – short pauses happen. We’ll help you keep connected.
FAQs
How much time should I plan for?
Rotary meetings typically run 60-90 minutes, including networking time before and after. For our club meetings on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays via Zoom, we’d suggest planning for about 75 minutes total – this gives you time to join early for informal chat and stay after for any follow-up discussions. Many members find the networking aspect as valuable as the formal meeting content.
Do I have to live in District 9660?
Not at all! As an e-club, we welcome members from all over the globe. That’s one of the benefits of meeting virtually – geography isn’t a barrier to membership. Whether you’re in Sydney, London, New York, or anywhere else, you can be part of our club. Plus, if you’d like hands-on involvement with local projects, you can still participate with any Rotary clubs in your area while maintaining your membership with us. We’d recommend discussing your location and interests with our membership committee to help you make the most of both your e-club membership and any local Rotary connections.
What if I can’t attend for a while?
Life happens, and we understand that completely! If you need to step back from regular attendance due to health, work, travel, or personal circumstances, just let us know rather than disappearing. We’d much rather support you through challenging times than lose you as a member.
Ready to get involved?
If these expectations fit your life, we’d love to welcome you. Visit a meeting, meet the team, and explore a project that matches your skills and interests.
